Petinary Clinic

Mike does great work! He's been helpful both with visits and with advice over the phone. Bug warms up to him quickly which he hasn't really done with previous Vets. And the prices he helps to set up are much more reasonable than what we've paid in the past. Highly recommend!

Might be time for Dr Cohen to retire. My dog has been a patient for around 5years and I've always been happy. But I've been in twice in the last 3 months and have walked away shaking my head both times - The second time was kind of an egregious. My dog is a patient at a different vet now.

I took my dog Charlie to Dr. Mike because he had an ear infection. Dr. Mike handled it very nicely and professionally. For my next appointment, I will definitely visit again.

The vet took care of our dog very well and our dog loves him.

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Dr. Mike Kohn needs to be shared so other pet owners know what to expect. I brought my dog Thor in on August 8th, 2025 for a severe skin condition. Thor had significant dryness, flaking, irritation, and hair loss. Dr. Kohn dismissed it as “dry skin,” advised me to stop bathing him, only rinse with water, and rub coconut oil on his skin and in his food. No tests, no skin scraping, no culture, no bloodwork — just coconut oil. I followed his instructions exactly. Thor’s condition did not improve. I emailed back with photos showing worsening dryness and flaking. Instead of addressing the evidence, Dr. Kohn responded with a guilt-tripping email giving me a false choice: coconut oil or corticosteroids (which he described as “very damaging to the entire body”). No acknowledgement of Thor’s suffering, no discussion of other possible causes (mites, yeast, bacterial infection, allergies), and no actual treatment plan. When I requested the steroid prescription to give Thor some relief, I was sent in circles. Walgreens confirmed they could not initiate the request because this was a new prescription. I had to push Dr. Kohn to send it directly. Only after pressing him did he agree — and then ended the email with: “I will fill this prescription. I feel in our best interests that you seek other veterinary care in the future.” That response says it all. He was dismissive from the start, offered no diagnostics, gave me the runaround for a prescription, and ultimately “fired” me as a client because I asked him to do the minimum his license requires. Thor deserves a vet who will investigate the cause of his skin problems instead of shrugging and saying “oil or steroids, you choose.” If you want a veterinarian who takes your concerns seriously and practices thorough medicine, I strongly recommend you seek care elsewhere.
