Cat Care Clinic West

Good people, good vibe, great service. However, its expensive. Thanks for caring for my four boys ❤️.

My boy Dyno got their service here. I love him so much and the quality we receive was always awesome.

Anna Kelton, DVM seems to be a caring and kind veterinarian. Unfortunately, she is not knowledgeable about tick-borne infections in cats. As with people, often times it is not possible to obtain positive test results for the various pathogens found in ticks. In this case it becomes imperative to be able to come to a clinical diagnosis in order to line levels. Aria is an extremely well cared for and well fed indoor/outdoor cat (One veterinarian remarked that this 15 year old cat looked like a 5 year old.) with a history of tick bites on a property where the ticks have been tested and found to carry Borrelia and Babesia. Four week old lab work from another clinic revealed mostly "perfect" middle of the normal range results except for her MCH and MCV with were firmly at the bottom of the normal range and an RDW outside and above the normal range. The report also noted mild anisocytosis and some unquantified, but "not significant" amout of poikilocytosis. All of these findings are consistent with a diagnosis of Babesiosis. Six days prior to this appointment, Aria was seen at another clinic where a clinical diagnosis of Babesiosis was made. This other clinic was slow to communicate, but did provide a treatment. I am very happy to say this treatment has, in just 10 days, put Aria on track to becoming a healthy cat again. Her appetite is better. Her ears and feet are now body temperature warm. Her activity level and talkativeness are essentially back to normal. Her respirations are still high at rest at home, but in the short run, that is to be expected as red blood cells are lost along with the organisms living within them are killed. Results of the lab work drawn at the Cat Care Clinic were not provided to me, so I am unable to compare or comment about them. One final word about our experience at the Cat Care Clinic: It is a very sad state of affairs to have to say that this clinician did no worse than 3 out of 4 other veterinarians. It is past time for veterinarians to do their continuing education to learn about and become ready and able to identify and treat tick-borne infections right here in Southern Wisconsin, because more cats are being infected every day!
